Class Portrait

Today we took some inspiration from the photo documentation project over at We Are the 99 Percent. After discussing Joel Kotkin's Newsweek piece, "The Screwed Generation," I posed the following question:

What one thing would you want to say about yourself as a Millennial or as someone just outside/straddling the Millennial divide?

We wrote down our replies and took some photos. Despite clear signs of concern and even fear, I'd be hard pressed to describe PS300 students--or myself-- as having "turn[ed] sour about the future."

Are we just deluding ourselves, or is Kotkin missing something? Maybe there's something about us all being students at UM that matters here? Maybe it's a complex combination of all these things? What do y'all think?

Author and PS300 Instructor weighs in as well!
